Privacy Policy

Booknest is a personal reading library. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we don’t do. In short: we store the books and shelves you add so they’re there when you come back, and we never sell your data or run ads.

What we collect

  • Your account. Your email address, and a display name if you set one. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email and basic profile (name and picture) from Google.
  • Your library. The books, shelves, ratings, reading status, and tags you add.
  • Technical. A sign-in cookie to keep you logged in, and standard server logs (such as IP address and request details) kept briefly for security and reliability.

What we don’t do

  • No advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
  • No analytics that profile you across the web.
  • We never sell, rent, or trade your personal data.

Where your data lives

Your account and library are stored in a Supabase (PostgreSQL) database hosted in Mumbai, India, and the app runs on Vercel. Your library is private to your account.

Services we rely on

  • Supabase — sign-in and database.
  • Vercel — hosting.
  • Google — only if you choose “Sign in with Google”.
  • Resend — to send account emails (sign-up confirmation, password reset).
  • Google Books and Open Library — to find book covers and details. We send them a title, author, or ISBN to look a book up; we never send them anything about you.

Cookies

We use a single essential cookie: your sign-in session, which is required to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Your choices

  • Export. Download your whole library any time from Settings → Your data.
  • Delete. Permanently delete your account and everything in it from Settings → Danger zone.
  • Correct. Edit your display name in Settings; contact us for anything else.

Children

Booknest is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
